Harvard referencing
The most common style across UK universities. Used in business, marketing, sociology, and most non-law social science modules.

APA 7th edition
Used in psychology, education, and increasingly in healthcare. Differs from Harvard in subtle ways — page numbers in citations, italicised journal names, DOI in references.

Numerical style used in medicine, nursing and biomedical research. Citations are numbered in the order they appear, and the bibliography lists references in that order — not alphabetically.

Tip: Always check your module handbook for the exact referencing style. UK universities often have their own variant — a “Cardiff Harvard” is not identical to “Anglia Ruskin Harvard”.
